A travel from Athens to Corfu may last up to few hours. Yet there are also direct flights to Corfu so that visitors need not to change means of transport. Pink Palace during summer months, that is from May to October runs a bus connection between the capital of Greece, Athens and Corfu.

Moraitika is situated on a plain, just 12 kilometres away from the capital of the island, Corfu, and 10 kilometres from Benitses. It was once a small town < the old part of the settlement still remains on the hills over the sandy beach>. Rapid development of the resort, hotels, restaurants, night clubs emerging at high speed caused Moraitika to reach the bank of the river Messonghi, further lies the town of Messonghi. These two nowadays seem to be melting in one.
Moraitika has plenty of attractions to offer. It is usually full of young people, either tightly-knit groups of friends or couples. Clubs open till late and discos pounding with the rhythm of music until dawn create a bit loose and cheerful atmosphere. Yet Moraitika is not as lively as Kavos, one can find peace here as well.
For those who find renting apartments a bit too bourgeois: in Agios Gorgios there is a hotel, called Pink Palace, for backpackers. Corfu Golf course is deemed one of the best in Europe. Situated on the west coast, in close proximity to Agios Georgios, Paleocastritsa and Benitses it is easily accesible from any place of the island.

Kalami: set in an ideal location somewhere between the bay of Agni and a peaceful harbour of Kouloura. This town is a perfect holiday destination for people who seek kind of a compromise between the hustle and bustle of a busy city and the stunning quietness and laziness of a Greek country. In Kalami one will never get bored and the town, though tiny, has many attractions to offer, ranging from all types of watersports to different kinds of nightclubs to have fun after the sun had set.
The town boasts a cosy atmosphere, not to mention that after work fisherman or waiters from the beach restaurants find their place at already emptying beach and benefit from the last rays of sunshine.
Probably the most comfortable way to accommodate yourself is to hire a studio or an apartment. According to a tourist guide there are many ways of spending free time in Kalami. For instance: an excursion around the town and its neighbourhood on horseback. These areas are unspoiled and such an excursion guarantees unadulterated pleasure for each and every man who participates in it.
Another excursion worth interest is a hike up the Mount Pantokrator. The paths are perfect for long walks , provided you are strong enough to bear a few-hour long walk in a difficult terrain. The views are breathtaking and fully compensate the effort made to climb the top.
A soft option, again according to the same tourist guide, for those who are not necessarily into climbing may be a day-long cruise, from the harbour in Kalami, to an island Paxos, one of the smallest in the Ionian Sea. Then the ferry heads for Parga, a historical place on the mainland to come back to Kalami in the evening.

Corfu, the heart of ionian islands, is a centre of tourist life during the peak season. One of the most interesting websites I found recommends unique set of apartments located in beautiful green gardens in Gouvia.
The set contains of 20 self-catering and spacious apartments totally refurbished few yearsa go. On the website there are many pictures presenting pools full of aquamarine water and gardens with tropical plants and palm trees.
The town of Gouvia is famous for its harbour, hosting innumerable small boats and yachts, all colourful and typically Greek. Due to the town and harbour being situated in a curved bay Ionian Sea waters are always peaceful there. And the town itself is a bit secluded because hidden among hills, though not far away from the capital. Gouvia boasts many small bays and safe beaches that provide swimming space even for little children as these waters are warm, shallow and never rough.
Even though the atmophere there seems to be calm and even a bit dull during the day it must be highlighted that the town truly lives only after the sun had set. Then the night life begins: tavernas , bars and clubs are open till the early moring hours. Parties in clubs usually begin at 8 pm but they won’t fully develop till 11pm. And it is not a rarity to meet effete tourists coming back home at the crack of dawn.

Dassia, as described before, is one of the most popular tourist resorts on the island. One of the best hotels there is Chandris Hotel, situated only few minutes away from the centre of the town. And only 12 km from Kerkyra: the capital of the island. All the facilities a tourist could claim are available, partly free of charge. Accommodation in a four-star-hotel provides comfort and satisfaction. Chandris is a matter of fact a chain of hotels providing tourists with ‘ Greek spirit and true hospitality’. The one in Corfu is certainly a jewel of the chain, overlooking a sapphire Ionian Sea. It is situated in a close proximity to a beach stretching along Dassia bay, at night perfect for romantic strolls.
Another town that can boast fine accommodation options is Agios Georgios, or St. George. This town, situated on the north-west coast of the island ( because there is also another Agios Georgios, also situated in the west coast) has a large, sweeping sandy cove to offer, perfect for a family rest on a beach. There are no old buildings in the town as it was built as a resort for tourists not so long ago: there one will find no typical Greek spirit. Though there is truly nothig to be seen in this town there is a possibility to go for a walk through the hills surrounding the village- for more fit tourists, yet the views are just spectacular! The town has a few Greek tavernas, watching sunsets while consuming typical Grek dishes is definately an unforgettable experience. Bars and nightclubs in Agios Georgios are situated along the beach. Lack of historical monuments is made up for with innumerable palces of night entertainment.

Nissaki means a little island, and that is what Nissaki was years ago. The top of the island is now surmounted with a taverna. The island was joined with the land by stone chippings that were being shaped by local people. With the years passing by the rocks created a ramp. Now there is a thouroughfare joining the old town with the taverna and the mainland. Nissaki is a picturesque village and boasts a beautiful pebbly beach shaped like a horseshoe.
Nissaki is defiantely not for those seeking for night parties and the beat of nightlife. It is a peaceful village offering different types of accommodation ideal for those who like silence and peace, admiring of heavenly views as well as melting into a small and friendly community. The beach and shallow waters provide all enthusiasts of watersports with unusual occasion to try snorkelling or scubadiving as the sea there is crystal clear. Maybe too quiet for teenagers when it comes down to nightlife but there is of course a possibility to hire a car and make for Kassiopi or Ipsos to have fun.
Quite a different place is located on the west coast Paleokastritsa, situated around three main bays. It is famous for being the most tresured baeuty spot. There are quite a few beaches and coves in the viccinity of Palokastritsa. There is also a monastery built in the 17th century. Visitors may come in provided they are appropriately dressed. Also worth seeing are the ’sea caves’ that can be best accessed by a boat (there is a possibility to participate in a 30 minutes long one). But the town is most famous for the busy bightlife!

Stefanos, or Agios Stefanos, known also as Saint Stefanos in situated on the north coast of Kerkyra. It is decidedly not pounding with the beat of the nightlife. It has not innumerable night clubs and other places of entertainment to offer, it is just a peaceful oasis that will enable any tired visitor ro recharge his batteries. There are plenty of walking routes to choose from to stroll around the town and admire spectacular views as well as take benefit from the crystal clear air. The longest one covers a distance between Agios Georgios, crosses Arillas and leads directly to San Stafanos. Walks may last from one to three hours. It is highly advisable to take with you comfortable shoes and plenty of water as the heat can be truly unbearable.
As considering Kerkyra, the capital of the island , bearing the same name as the island itself, special attention should be drawn to Marina : the most known hotel in the town and decidedly the one that is the most recognizable by tourists. It is situated on the edge of a beach Cala Egos ina truly peaceful area not too far away from the city centre < only 2,5 km>. The complex is truly comfortable with pools, tennis courts and other facilities specially adjusted for children’s needs.

Arillas, a tourist resort is situated in the North- Western part of the island of Corfu. The sea there is stunningly blue, as in every part of this Greek island. This tourist resort is specially popular with families will small kids as the beach there is truly beckoning, sandy and safe. The beach in Agillas is connected with ones in Agios Georgios what makes it possible to stroll along it for long hours and admire spectacular views of the peaceful waters of the still sea. Sparkling watery blue, vermillion shade of the sand painted by the last rays of the setting sun or warm yellowish of the leaves of olives from neighbouring groves will catch the eyes of any visitor immediately: so that without even noticing it he will be mesmerised by them and will come back to be captured once again.
